CVS Caremark Adherence Research
Non-adherence to essential chronic medications has been widely recognized as a major public health problem, which can lead to poor health outcomes while increasing overall health care costs. To address this significant issue, CVS Caremark joined forces with Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston in the fall of 2009 to begin a multi-year research initiative focused on medication adherence. The knowledge gained from this research will help health care professionals better understand patient behavior and can lead to the development of programs to help improve medication adherence.
